Learn the terms and conditions that govern the use of Hearfromyou.

1. Summary at a Glance

This summary is a plain-language overview. It is not a substitute for the full Terms below, which are what actually apply.

You must be 18 or older to use Hear From You.
No accounts. Anyone can browse and publish, which also means we cannot verify who wrote a cassette or let you edit it later.
Published cassettes are permanent and public. You cannot delete them yourself, so read Section 7 before you publish.
You are responsible for what you write. Do not publish anything illegal, hateful, harassing, sexual, or that exposes someone's private information (Sections 8, 10, and 11).
You keep ownership of your content but give us a license to host, display, and promote it (Section 9).
Music comes from Apple and YouTube. We do not host any music, and songs can become unavailable (Section 13).
We moderate with a mix of automated review and reports. We can hide or remove cassettes at our discretion (Section 14).
The Service is provided as is. There are limits on our liability (Sections 20 and 21).

2. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Hear From You ("we," "us," or "our") and govern your access to and use of the Hear From You website at www.hearfromyou.xyz and everything offered through it (the "Service").

By accessing or using the Service, including by browsing, searching, playing, creating, or publishing a cassette, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have the authority to accept these Terms for that organization.

3. Key Terms

These words have the following meanings in these Terms:

Cassette	A digital cassette made on the Service, made up of a recipient name, a title, a written message, a song, and a visual design
Draft	A cassette you have started but not yet published, saved only in your own browser
Publish	To submit a cassette so that it becomes available on the Service through its link
Your Content	Everything you put into a cassette, including the recipient name, title, message, selected music, and visual design
Recipient	The person a cassette is made for, as named in the cassette
Hidden cassette	A cassette that is no longer shown on the platform, for example after multiple reports
Third-Party Services	Services run by others that the Service relies on, such as Apple iTunes Search, YouTube, Cloudflare, and Google Analytics

4. About the Service

Hear From You is a digital cassette tape archive. It lets people create a cassette for someone, made up of a recipient name, a title, a written message, a song, and a visual design, publish it, and share it through a link. Published cassettes can also be browsed and searched by other visitors.

The Service includes several areas, such as Browse, Recurring Names, My Archive, Support, and Submit, as well as individual cassette pages. We may add, change, or remove features over time.

No account or registration is required. Because of this, we cannot identify or verify who created a cassette.

5. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use Hear From You. By using the Service, you confirm that you are 18 or older and that you are able to enter into a binding agreement under the laws that apply to you. If we learn that someone under 18 has used the Service, we may remove their content.

You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so by law, or if we have previously restricted your access.

6. How Publishing Works

Here is what generally happens when you make a cassette:

Create: you choose a recipient name, a title, a message, a song, and a design. Your work in progress is saved as a draft in your own browser only.
Check: when you submit, bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile) and rate limits may apply, and the message, title, and recipient name are checked by automated moderation tools.
Publish: if the cassette passes, it is published and gets its own link. From this point it is public and permanent (Section 7).
Share: you can share the link with the recipient or anyone else. Others can also find your cassette by browsing or searching the archive.
After publication: anyone can report the cassette, and we may review, hide, or remove it as described in Section 14.

Your cassette may be rejected, blocked, or hidden for any reason described in these Terms. We do not promise that any particular cassette will be published or stay published.

7. Permanent Cassettes

Once you publish a cassette on Hear From You, it becomes permanent. Consider this carefully before publishing:

Cassettes cannot be deleted by users after publication, and they cannot be edited after publication
They remain publicly accessible through their link unless hidden or removed for policy violations, as described in these Terms
Anyone with the link can view, copy, and share your cassette, and search engines may index it. Copies kept by others, including search engines, may remain even if we later hide or remove the cassette
Drafts are saved only on your own device, and we cannot recover them if you clear your browser data
Your Recurring Names and My Archive pages are also built from a record kept only in your browser's IndexedDB storage. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, that personal record is gone even though the cassettes themselves remain published and accessible by their links
Review your recipient name, title, message, song choice, and design before publishing, and do not include anything you would not want to be public permanently

If a cassette exposes your private information or threatens your safety, contact us as described in Section 14. We review serious requests, but we do not promise to remove any cassette on request.

8. Your Content and Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for Your Content and for what happens as a result of publishing it. By publishing a cassette, you promise that:

You created Your Content or have the right to use it in the way you are using it
Your Content does not break any law or the rights of anyone else
If Your Content includes another person's name or personal details, you have a good reason and the right to include them, and you are not using them to harm, harass, or expose that person
Your Content does not contain sensitive personal information such as ID numbers, financial details, or private contact details
The information in Your Content is not knowingly false or misleading in a way that could harm someone

We do not review every cassette, we do not endorse any cassette, and the views in a cassette are those of its author and not of Hear From You.

9. Content Ownership & License

You retain ownership of the content you create. By publishing a cassette, you grant Hear From You a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute your cassette for operating, securing, and promoting the platform. Because cassettes are permanent, this license continues for as long as the cassette remains on the Service. This includes:

The recipient's name, the title, your message, your selected music, and your visual design
Display on our website, social media, marketing materials, and promotional campaigns
Technical changes needed to display your cassette, such as resizing or reformatting
No additional permission or compensation is required

If you do not want your cassette to be shared or promoted in these ways, please do not publish it.

Music and videos selected from third-party services are not part of Your Content in the sense of ownership. They belong to their respective owners, and you do not grant us any rights to them (see Section 13).

10. Prohibited Content

You agree not to create or publish any cassette that:

Is illegal or violates applicable laws
Contains hate speech, violence, or explicit adult content
Is harassing, bullying, defamatory, or threatening
Encourages or glorifies self-harm, suicide, or harm to others
Includes sexual or exploitative content, or any content involving minors in a harmful way
Exposes another person's private information, such as their address, phone number, or financial details, without their consent (doxxing)
Impersonates another person or organization
Infringes on third-party intellectual property rights
Contains malware, harmful links, or attempts to scam or phish others
Is spam, advertising, or intended to deceive

Examples

These examples are meant to help, not to list every possibility:

Expressing sadness, grief, or heartbreak in your own words	Content that encourages or describes self-harm or suicide as a solution
Mentioning a song, place, or shared moment	Using the cassette to advertise a product, link to a scam, or promote another site
Writing as yourself	Writing as if you were another real person or an organization

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to someone you trust or to local emergency or mental health services. A cassette is not a substitute for help.

11. Writing About Real People

Many cassettes are addressed to real people, which is part of what makes Hear From You meaningful. It also means other people's privacy and feelings are involved. Please:

Use a first name, nickname, or initial where you can, instead of a full name
Leave out details that could identify or locate someone, such as addresses, phone numbers, social handles, schools, or workplaces
Do not share another person's private or sensitive information, including health, financial, or relationship details they would not want public
Do not make serious accusations about a real person
Remember that the person you write to, and others who recognize themselves, may read it, and that it will stay online

12. Prohibited Conduct

When using the Service, you also agree not to:

Use bots, scripts, or other automated means to publish cassettes, submit reports, or otherwise interact with the Service
Scrape, crawl, or bulk-copy the Service or its content, except for ordinary search engine indexing
Bypass, disable, or interfere with security features, rate limits, bot protection (such as Cloudflare Turnstile), or moderation systems
Submit false or abusive reports, or coordinate to get cassettes hidden unfairly
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, its servers, or its data
Overload, disrupt, or damage the Service or the experience of other visitors
Publish large numbers of cassettes to flood, spam, or test the Service without our permission
Use the Service to collect information about other people for harassment, stalking, or other harmful purposes
Use the Service in any way that breaks these Terms or applicable law

13. Music & Third-Party Services

Hear From You is a platform for users to create and share personal cassette messages (including recipient name, title, and written message). Each cassette requires a music track, which users select from third-party services:

Tracks selected via the iTunes Search API are provided by Apple. Hear From You does not own, host, or store any music files.
YouTube tracks are played exclusively through YouTube’s official embedded player. Hear From You does not download, store, host, or modify any YouTube videos.
The YouTube player is displayed with its standard controls and functionality. Users interact with it according to YouTube’s available features.
By using features powered by YouTube, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and your use is subject to the Google Privacy Policy.
Use of iTunes and YouTube content is subject to the respective third-party terms of service and policies. By using these features, users agree to be bound by those terms.
Songs may become unavailable, be removed, or be restricted in certain regions by the third-party provider. When that happens, the music on your cassette may stop playing, and we are not able to restore it.
Hear From You claims no ownership of any third-party music or video content and is not responsible for its availability, licensing, or content.

Playback may depend on your device, browser, connection, and settings (for example, ad blockers or autoplay restrictions), and on whether the provider allows playback in your region. We cannot guarantee that music will play for every visitor at every time.

The Service may also rely on other third-party providers, such as Cloudflare and Google Analytics. These are described in our Privacy Policy, and their own terms apply to your use of their services.

14. Moderation, Reports & Removal

We try to maintain a respectful community through automated moderation and user reporting:

We use automated AI systems to review the message, title, and recipient name of a cassette for inappropriate content before publication
Anyone can report a cassette using the report button
A cassette that receives more than three reports is automatically hidden, and it may then be reviewed and either restored or kept hidden or removed
We reserve the right, at our discretion and without notice, to hide or remove any cassette, or to restrict access to the Service, for any violation or suspected violation of these Terms, or where needed to protect people or comply with the law

14.1 Which route to use

A cassette threatens someone's safety	Email us with the cassette link. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
You believe a cassette was blocked, hidden, or removed by mistake	Email us with the cassette link and explain why
A cassette infringes your copyright	Follow the steps in Section 15

14.2 What may happen after a report

We may, at our discretion:

leave the cassette as it is,
hide the cassette from the platform,
restore a hidden cassette,
remove or restrict the cassette, and
restrict access to the Service for people who repeatedly break these Terms.

14.3 Limits

Automatic hiding after reports is a safety measure and is not a finding that a cassette broke any rule. Automated moderation is not perfect, and we do not promise that all inappropriate content will be caught or that all decisions will be correct. We are not obligated to monitor the Service, and we are not responsible for content published by users.

If you think we made a mistake, tell us. We may review our decision, but we are not required to change it.

15. Copyright and Other Complaints

If you believe a cassette infringes your copyright or other rights, or contains your private information without your consent, please email us at the address in the Contact section. To help us act quickly, please include:

The link to the cassette
A description of the content and why you believe it is a problem
Your contact details, and, for copyright complaints, information about the work you say is infringed
A statement that the information you provided is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act for them

We may hide or remove content after reviewing a complaint. Knowingly false complaints may be ignored and may have legal consequences.

Complaints about music or video content itself (as opposed to the message, title, or recipient name) should generally be directed to the third-party provider that hosts it, such as Apple or YouTube, since we do not host those files.

16. Our Intellectual Property

The Service itself, including its design, code, layout, graphics, logo, and branding (but not Your Content or third-party content), belongs to Hear From You and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may use the Service for its intended purpose, but you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from any part of it without our written permission.

You may link to a published cassette, and you may share it with others, as the Service is meant to be used. You may not use our name, logo, or branding in a way that suggests we endorse you or your product without our written permission.

17. Privacy & Data

Hear From You is built with privacy in mind:

We do not require accounts or ask you to register
Your cassette drafts are stored locally on your device only
Recurring Names and My Archive are built from a list of cassette IDs kept in your browser's IndexedDB storage, not from an account or a server-side profile tied to you
We do not maintain personal user history on our servers
Published cassettes, including the recipient name, are stored to remain publicly accessible
We use analytics and security tools that may process technical data such as your IP address

18. Advertising

We may incorporate advertising into the Service, for example through Google AdSense, to help keep the Service free. If we do, we will update these Terms and our Privacy Policy before ads go live, and you agree that ads and sponsored content may appear alongside cassettes without any right to compensation.

We do not control the content of ads served by third-party advertising partners, and we are not responsible for the products, services, or websites advertised. Your dealings with advertisers are between you and them.

19. Feedback

If you send us suggestions, ideas, or other feedback about the Service, we may use them to improve the Service without owing you anything and without having to credit you. Please do not send us confidential or sensitive information in your feedback.

20. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that cassettes will always be available, or that music from third-party services will always play. We are not responsible for content created by users, and we do not endorse any cassette or any opinion expressed in one.

21. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hear From You and the people behind it are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service. This includes damages resulting from:

Loss of data, including lost drafts and lost My Archive records
Service interruptions, errors, or security incidents
Issues related to music licensing or availability
Content published by you or by other users
Actions taken by third-party services

Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

22. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold harmless Hear From You from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from Your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.

23. Availability and Changes to the Service

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you or anyone else for any such change. We will try to keep published cassettes available, but we cannot guarantee that they will remain accessible forever.

24. Termination

We may block or restrict your access to the Service, and hide or remove your content, at any time and for any reason, including if you break these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should continue after termination, including the license to published cassettes, disclaimers, limits on liability, and indemnification, will continue to apply.

25. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page and change the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. Please review this page from time to time.

If we make a significant change, such as starting to show advertising, we will update these Terms and the Privacy Policy before the change takes effect. Cassettes you published earlier remain subject to the Terms as updated.

26. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Philippines, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be brought before the appropriate courts of the Philippines, and you agree to submit to their jurisdiction.

Before starting any formal proceeding, we encourage you to contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally.

27. General

Entire agreement: these Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service
Severability: if any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will remain in effect
No waiver: if we do not enforce a part of these Terms, that does not mean we give up our right to do so later
Assignment: you may not transfer your rights under these Terms, but we may transfer ours as part of a merger, sale, or reorganization
Events beyond our control: we are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as outages of internet, hosting, or third-party services
Headings: section headings and summaries are for convenience only and do not change the meaning of these Terms
Language: these Terms are written in English. If they are translated, the English version controls
