Carlo, I was cleaning out my drawer today and found that receipt from the coffee shop by the old dorm, the one where they used to give free refills if you asked nicely and you always did. It's wild how many hours we spent there just talking about nothing, arguing about which professor was the worst, planning trips we never actually took. I don't think I ever told you how much that stretch of time mattered to me. You were the first person in that city who felt like home, and I think I took that for granted because it felt so easy. We don't talk as much now, life got busy, you got married, I moved cities, and that's fine, that's normal, but every once in a while a smell or a song brings me right back to that dorm hallway and I just want you to know I still think about it fondly. Thank you for being that person when I needed one, even if I never said it out loud back then.
